Our dog had actually been chasing big black crows up and down the sand dunes and you can see her paw print trails running here and there. The funny birds seemed to be teasing her.

This is our sweet and very hyperactive, speckled Australian Shepherd fur-kid named Shanti in one of her rare restive states. Just love the specks in her right eye and her cute freckles.

I know the yellow ribbon is supposed to represent hope and support for soldiers. I don't believe in war so seeing these ribbons evokes a different response. I feel sad to know that there are men, women and children who are worrying and missing a loved one. I feel sad to know that there are no guarantees their loved one will return home to them safe and sound.

I hope that all of humanity will decide war and killing is never a way to resolve conflicts. An organization called The Elders gives me hope. You can learn about them by clicking here.

My husband, the science teacher, is providing our daughters with a fine appreciation for bugs. In fact we have a bit of a bug mania going on right now. Whenever we are outside the girls yell "bugs, bugs" and want to turn over rocks and search for their little friends. Here are a few other shots of the bug investigators.

The other day I just happened to notice how the light was illuminating one leaf in an otherwise dark corner of the garden. The color and details of the leaf in person was amazing. I was so thrilled then I discovered it came out just as beautifully in the photos I snapped. These photos have not been altered in any way.
