My jewelry box is in need of an overhaul as it is overflowing. I think it is time to purge some more stuff I don't wear or use.

Tube

A hollow, usually cylindrical body of metal, glass or plastic used especially for conveying or containing liquids or gases. You have tubes, right?

This isn't really a tube meant for gases or liquids but it is a tube made of plastic meant for play. Inside is my daughter Aubrey. This photo was taken last summer.

While looking around at various wind chimes and other such things that dangle I notice how the lovely tulips on my desk at work were doing a bit of dangling themselves. So nice to have a little first glimmer of spring.

Number

An arithmetical value expressed by a word, symbol or figure. Show us a 'number' in your space today!

Everyone has been asking what these are so I wanted to respond. These are from a set of boxes/stacking blocks called The Tallest Tree Blocks. We also have a board book that has the poem that appears on one side of these blocks. I just love this toy.
The description as it reads from one web site: Open the box and stack the blocks to journey from forest floor to outer space, read a redwood poem by Robert Lieber, count from 1 to 10 with forest friends, discover forest animals and plants, and learn about the world's largest trees, the redwoods. These 10 sturdy blocks stack one on top of the other to build a 3 foot tall redwood tree that reaches up to the stars, then fit inside each other for easy storage when you are through. Winner of the national park service best product award, these blocks also help young minds learn to read, count, and discover the forest animals that live where the redwoods grow. Build a redwood today and and start your own journey of discovery.

Away

To go at a distance from a specified thing, place or person. Show us 'away' in your space today.

Feeling a little melancholy today. I saw the film P.S. I Love You! a week ago. I downloaded the soundtrack after. It hit a little close to home for me. I was engaged when I was 26 years old and the wedding was going to take place in August of 1995 here in California. Instead my fiance was killed in a car accident in May of 1995 in France. Ironically it was his last night in France. He was departing to Morocco the next day to visit family before flying to California to join me. In my lifetime I have also experienced the death of two brothers. My brother Tom was only 21 when he died in a motorcycle accident in 1984. Then in 2001 my brother Jim died from an aggressive lymphoma. He was HIV+ and had been for 12 years or longer before he ended up with lymphoma. Here is my tribute to these three people who went away to soon. They were all way too young.

SOS

I decided to travel back in time. Back to April of 1994 to be exact. I was studying in the south of France at the time and during one of our breaks I traveled with two other students to Morocco. We took a train all the way through Spain and then a ferry across to Algiers. We had some contacts and families to connect with in Morocco and that definitely created an amazing trip for us. We visited Algiers, Fez, Casablanca, Rabat, Sale and Marrakech. We stayed with families most of the time. We ate the most amazing food. We experienced the celebration held for a couple before they depart on their once in a life time visit to Mecca - the Haj. We also were invited to a wedding. Here are four photos from some of that visit.

I have to admit I really suck at origami. I followed all the directions for two different projects and neither came out right - urgh. My husband has been doing it since he was a wee lad though and he is great at it. He sometimes even teaches an elective at his school on the subject.

I didn't even stage this photo. My daughter Aubrey happened to climb up into this chair by herself and asked for her accordion. The child versions were Christmas gifts. They are kind of tough to squeeze for a little one but with some help they are getting it. Aubrey was actually making it play all by herself while sitting here.
