These are two gourds I painted on my women's retreat in July. I am really pleased with how they turned out. The sunflower is my favorite flower and I am also drawn to images of the sun. We have a tradition of adopting "Sister" names like they do in the book Divine Secrets of the Ya-Ya Sisterhood in our women's group. My name took a long time coming to me - 9 years to be exact. My name is now Sister Sunshine.

Show Off Sunday

This is a photo I happened to capture back in June while doing a little photo session with my daughters. The later afternoon lighting was really nice in this section of our backyard. The clover in the grass and the gray fence helped to create a really nice setting. In this partucluar photo I was so happy to capture her on the move. Everything came out really crisp except for her right foot and a very slight blur to her right hand, yet it worked just fine for this photo. I also liked how I captured her in the left hand side of the frame and I liked the angle of me being low on the ground, actually looking up at her a little bit.

Self Portrait Saturday

Managed to snap this one of myself while on the road. Good timing for my self portrait as I just had my hair touched up and my eyebrows waxed. We'll see how good my self portrait looks in about 5 weeks when the eyebrows are bushy again and the roots have grown back in! ha ha!

I just love this white orchid I have in my bathroom. The splash of brilliant pink is quite stunning on the flowers.

This is my friend Pam. We recently got together on a Sunday. I took her hiking to one of my favorite places. Later we had lunch and then we went and saw the movie Hairspray. It was a perfect day. Ever since my twin girls were born 15 months ago the time I've spent with friends has been very limited. It has been nice to begin again to spend time with friends.

Below is one of my all time favorite photos of me (on the left) and my friend Kristine (on the right.) A group of us had gone in costume to a renaissance faire. This is when we Americans dress up and pretend to have British accents.
